Blue Hill Inn – Featured in Many Travel Magazines

A Lovely Retreat Close to Many Fun Lobster Activities!

Located on an acre of land in the center of the village of Blue Hill and a block from the head of Blue Hill Bay, the inn, built in 1835, is on the National Register of Historic Places.   Innkeeper Sarah Pebworth and the staff of the inn will make suggestions, assist with itineraries, help with directions, and make reservations. They are familiar with the area and can direct guests to great boating, live music, beautiful picnic spots, husband-friendly shopping, and delicious lobster rolls.  A Federal period building, the Blue Hill Inn has eleven guest rooms, a sun-filled dining room, and two comfortable parlors. It retains many of its original features, including clapboards, nine over six windows, wide pumpkin pine floor boards, and six fireplaces.

This charming inn is perfectly located to explore seaside villages like Castine and Stonington.  Plan a wonderful lobster adventure and cruise the islands and bays of Downeast Maine with aboard Miss Lizzie, offering scenic excursions, Monday through Saturday during the summer season.  You’ll learn about Maine’s lobster fishery as  crews haul our string of lobster traps. The Captain will explain the techniques and a few of the secrets of the men and women who earn their livings on the waters of coastal Maine. Cruises last for about one hour and fifteen minutes, leaving from the Isle au Haut Ferry Company on Sea Breeze Avenue in Stonington.

The Breakers Inn – Right on The Beach!

The Breakers Inn is an oceanfront property located directly on the Atlantic Ocean at Higgins Beach. Built as a private home in 1900, it has served the public since the early 1930s.  There are 15 guest rooms, each with a private bath and all accommodations in the main building have a view of the ocean.

A great feature of this inn, is the fact you can get a lobster roll picnic to go. During July and August, picnic lunches are available in the kitchen between 12 noon and 1 PM and they offer variety of sandwiches for seafood and land lovers alike.  Insiders note?  Just take your lobster roll picnic down to the beach in front or sit on the wrap around porch and take in the natural beauty.  Ahhhhhhhhh.
