Isle au Haut Boat Services – Experience Downeast Maine

Climb Aboard and Leave the Mainland Behind!

Isle au Haut Boat Services operates year-round passenger, mail and freight service between Stonington and Isle au Haut, and seasonal service to the Duck Harbor Landing of Acadia National Park.   During the summer season, Monday through Saturday, join the crew for a scenic Downeast Maine lobster cruise!   You’ll learn about Maine’s lobster fishery as crews haul a string of lobster traps. See what creatures of the ocean floor are in the daily catch. The Captain will explain the lobstering techniques and share a few of the secrets of the men and women who earn their livings on the waters of coastal Maine.  Everything we catch – goes back into the water.

During your narrated cruise, you’ll also learn about the local history and folklore of the islands, granite quarries and lighthouses. Weather permitting, you’ll visit islands and ledges where seals, birds and working and pleasure vessels present photo opportunities on every side.    Harbor cruises last for about one hour and fifteen minutes, leaving from the Isle au Haut Ferry Company on Sea Breeze Avenue in Stonington.

Why we love it:   This is the real deal.  Stonington is all about lobster – so perfect slice of life opportunity!
