Wharf Gallery & Grill – Fresh From the Lobsterman Who Owns the Shack!

From Trap to Plate

The Wharf Gallery & Grill is located in beautiful Corea, Maine, and is owned by sixth generation Mainer and lobsterman Joe Young. Here you’ll find a place that time forgot and enjoy a freshly prepared lobster roll on Joe’s wharf where you can take in the working harbor and all of its sights and sounds. Once you’ve located Corea a short 10 minute jaunt from Route 1, you’ll pass the Corea post office and only intersection where you can find the village’s only stop sign. Drive past the post office and you’ll find our open flag and Maine Gifford’s ice cream sign on the left where you can park along Gibbs Lane.

As you approach the Wharf Gallery & Grill, you will be met by the sight of rope rugs, a cool breeze, and  friendly staff. Favorites from the menu include lobster rolls, boiled lobster dinner, crab claws, steak and cheese, sausage with green peppers and onions, and our very own lobster grilled cheese (imitated but never duplicated). You won’t want to leave the picnic tables that have perfect views of the harbor, so save room for a piece of blueberry pie, a whoopie pie, or some Maine Gifford’s ice cream.  This lobster shack may be off the beaten path, but Joe prefers it that way. You won’t be disappointed!

Why we love it:  This place is pure Maine.  Plus, enjoy photographs of Downeast and Acadia of the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s!

Nunan’s Lobster Hut – A Family Tradition

Lobsters In the Rough!

This small but mighty famous lobster venue has an interesting history. In 1932, Captain George Nunan, after years of Grand Banks schooner fishing, returned home to Cape Porpoise, Maine to pursue lobster and mackerel fishing. In 1951, George placed a cooking kettle under the elm tree in his front yard to sell cooked lobsters. He would sell the first one for $1.25, and then .80 cents for every one after that.  With business booming more than his small kettle could handle, in 1953 he converted his workshop into the same kitchen used today.

With delights such as lobster stew this cutey offers a great location.  Please note cash only and offers beer and wine.
